Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is "Detailing"?
A: Simply stated, auto detailing is the practice of making a car look its best – without relying on extreme measures such as dismantling or repairing. Auto detailing is an essential element toward maintaining your car’s beauty, performance and value. To achieve these goals, detailing needs to become as important as changing your oil or replacing your spark plugs.
Q: How often should I get my car detailed?
A: Between acid rain in the summer and salt in the winter, we recommend that you detail your car every six months to maintain your car’s finish with regular washes in between. In doing so, it will keep your car's surfaces and finishes healthy and protected, and will actually lengthen the life of your car.
Q: Why should I get my car detailed if I am going to be selling it?
A: The trade in and private sale prices you would get on a freshly detailed car are worth thousands of dollars in some cases. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression! Showing a clean, well detailed vehicle to a potential buyer will speak volumes about you, and show that the car was taken care of and not cosmetically neglected.
Q: My local carwash offers detailing at much lower prices of most professional detailer services. Why and what is the difference?
A: A lot of people ask that question! First of all the term 'Detailing' has been widely misused in the industry. A detail is just taking care of all the details that an average person would not do when maintaining their own automobile. A true detail consists of meticulous cleaning; professional swirl free polishing and protection of surfaces. They do in an hour or so what usually takes me 3-4 hours. Many carwashes simply cover dirt with shiny greasy solvent-based dressings. This not only traps the dirt inside but the solvents in many of these dressings actually damage the surfaces. Also, many inexperienced workers will run a hi-speed buffer over your paint causing damage and ugly swirls on your paint or waxing over deep imbedded dirt. They also usually use the same dirty sponges, towels, and polishing pads that they have used all day sometimes all week.
Q: Why does my brand new vehicle have swirls in the clearcoat already even though i just bought it?
A: Well, most dealers don't take a great deal of time or pride in maintaining vehicles on the lot. Most are just washed with with dirty equipment draging the dirt back and fourth on the paint like a fine sand paper. Also a lot of times when your car is delivered it's being prepped with dirty equipement, by in most cases an untrained detailer or young kids making minimun wage.
Q: Why would I want to get my engine bay detailed?
A: For a show quality car its a must, but even a daily driver vehicle its important for a couple of reasons. Keeping engine parts clean of dirt and road salt will help them last longer especially keeping hoses and plastc parts from cracking. Also its a proven fact that keeping your engine bay clean as well as your whole car detailed that when its taken in for service the tech will actually do a better job. If the tech see's that your car is well maintained he will take his time and do a better job and many cases even go beyond what he usually would do. Also its just much easier to work on a clean car rather than an oily grease covered engine.
